Extensión of legal periods to appeal, etc
Due to the special circumstances in Spain, (most public bodies are closed and are not allowing presential appointments to present paperwork), the Spanish goverment has approved a royal decree to clarify many legal and tax aspects.
It is important to know that legal periods to file appeals, submmit claims, etc. have been suspended and extended. It means that citizens will have more time to file their appeals, pay penalties, etc.
The most important dates mentioned in the royal decree are:
30th April 2020 – All legal periods in which to pay tax debts, reply to the tax office, file appeals, etc. on issues notified before 18th March, have been extended until this date.
20th May 2020 – All legal periods in which to pay tax debts, reply to the tax office, file appeals, etc. on issues notified after 18th March, have been extended until this date.
If you are involved in any tax or administrative procedures you should check in detail the aforementioned Royal Decree to find out your legal position.
